Treehouse Pop-up

Design House, within the framework of activities organized by Design Week Mexico 2012, is an exercise that calls for renowned architects to design the rooms that make up a home. Materia was invited to design the garage.

Considering the limited space and the existing elements, such as a tree with abundant foliage and a green wall, we sought to create an object that would offer shelter and at the same time maintain a constant dialogue between the exterior and interior: a treehouse.

The volume of the treehouse comes from the deconstruction of a cube. The exterior surface, rough and simple, is covered with plywood. Subtractions along the façade define the access, views or lighting effects. Opposed to the exterior, the interior has a composition of movement, color, and constant change.
