Fabhaus

The initial parti comes from the study of the conventional archetype of a house: a simple box enclosed with a pitched roof. The volume is divided into two separate concrete masses which encase a third transparent volume. This volume containing the main stairway frames the view of the surrounding landscape.

The first level of the house blends into the site´s natural topography. Communal spaces are placed above it, where the heavy concrete walls are replaced with glass in order to create a dialogue between the interior and exterior elements. The third volume, containing the private spaces, is emphasized as it cantilevers above the site.

The façade plays with different textures embedded into the concrete, wood and stone. The enclosing surfaces are only interrupted in order to introduce natural light and frame views. A continuous wooden skin envelopes the volume, accentuating the edge between the walls and roof.
